Why don't basketball referees ever call palming or walking any more?
College football players DO get paid. They just don't value the education they're getting.
You want a union? Fine. Now start paying taxes on that free education benefit you are getting.
College athletes want to be treated like employees? Fine. That means they can get docked pay or even fired when they under-perform.
Sports aren't as much fun anymore. Everything is about money.
Those Northwestern football players may soon learn that top student athletes are treated far better than average university employees.
Be careful what you wish for, union-backing college athletes. Take money from the boss' wallet and his expectations of you will start getting much, much tougher.
The job of the NLRB is to unionize as many people as possible. Their ruling means nothing. College players are not employees, if they were then they would owe taxes on their scholarships and stipends
Heyward is a BEAST! Can't wait to see him have a career season in 2014! Go Braves, Go Heyward!
Real college football ended years ago. Now it is nothing much a money-maker. Forget about sports.
Will the team go on strike because the other team is open shop: or tackles too hard; or team is bigger.
College athletics are a business. It is NOT about sports.
I can see it now. All the best private schools - Harvard, Yale, Brown, Stanford, Northwestern, Vanderbilt - contract the best high school football players and become the only games to watch at the collegiate level. In the meantime, public universities return to their roots: amateur athletes/student scholar representing their school for the joy of it. And geting an education in something other than interdisciplinary or general studies.
College football union because the players are University employees? They are no longer students and now not legible to play.
Union meeting. No management allowed. Coaches get out.
Georgia Tech used to be able to pick their coaches wisely. Not any more.
Sorry Danica the only number that matters is a win !!!
Dayton "sold" their basketball coach to Tech so they would not have a pay him to do nothing and then got themselves a far better coach.
Why does it matter if a college basketball coach has a degree or not. Basketball wasn't part of their degree program.
If Ga. Tech had to hire the Dayton basketball coach, they were three years too soon.
Elite 8 = Dayton. Bottom 8 = Tech.
Go everybody in the Sweet 16....beat Florida!
Uggla might be cashing his big checks and laughing at us. But he's not laughing nowhere near as loud as the fan who see him hitting nothing but air most times at bat.
Johnny Football must be the second coming to have two former presidents watching him strut.
Now ACC rules football and sec rules basketball! My how things have changed!
3 teams in the Sweet 16 and your third place team didn't even make the tournament. Sorry SEC, you are still rotten in basketball.
