Children today do not know what they are missing. Mom and Dad come home from work and close the doors to the world. Everyone gets on their Smartphone or whatever til bedtime-- no walking in neighborhoods, no conversing with neighbots, etc. So sad.
Please pray for the poor child that is being held hostage in a bunker by a man in Alabama. I can not imagine what that child's parents are going through.
I have to admit that, when I was a young whippersnapper, I never snapped a whipper.
The unvents about the clothes hanging outside on the line, does bring back memories. Remember when it would start to rain and you had to hurry to try and get the clothes off the line.
I was having a horrible day. Walked past a stranger who gave me the biggest grin. I smiled back. He told me my smile was too pretty to be hidden and that whatever was bringing me down would pass. My day got so much better. He is right, it will pass.
Hey, thanks Vent Guy for the additional vents you are posting
Am I the only one not worried about where I'm going after my last breath? I'm more worried about where I'm breathing now.
Born in the 50's, Raised in the 60's, Grew up in the 70's, Matured in the 80's, Mellowed in the 90's & been mellow ever since!
Leave the unvent moderator alone!
They say the true joy of life is in the trip, we need to remember that every day.
My son had ADHD when he was a young boy. We found out that food that used red dye #3 or any soda that he drank from an aluminum can caused him to have his reaction. His ears and nose would start to turn red and his eyes would dilate. we knew to watch him for his safety.
We call ourselves 'products of environment' forgetting that we are also its producers.
I'm really glad people care enough to take the time to Vent. It's one of the few places it's still considered appropriate to discuss the direction this country is going, or the proper etiquette while driving and eating out. And it's often more civil and objective than the actual public speeches. But I sure do like to read the UnVent immediately afterwards.
Snuggling into freshly washed, sun-dried sheets is a whole lot of happy! So is hugging a freshly bathed, clean pj clad grandchild. Life just doesn't get much better!
Remember when politicians were well respected, and really seemed to have our concerns in mind ? What happened ?
And the ladies dresses of the 50's were the prettiest ever. When I go shopping now, I never see anything that even looks decent.
Tip: Buy a small bag of potato chips. Write the purchase date on the bag with a Sharpie. You don't get to buy a new bag for 2 weeks. Pour a few chips in a bowl, close the bag and put it away, and leave the kitchen. Eat and enjoy, with a glass of water. If you splurge and refill your bowl too often, that's your choice, but know that you'll be doing without any next week.
Check with Trader Joe's for a lot of gluten free items. They have waffles and so forth that are pretty tasty.
My daughter (an adult) went gluten free and feels so much better. Trader Joe's has some gluten-free buns she likes and Whole Foods has gluten-free wraps. It takes a little research in the beginning to figure out what things she can eat but it isn't as hard as you might think.
If you really want to tackle ADHD, go to the library and check out a copy of The Feingold Diet. It will help you get started. And, guess what? It works!
My daughter used to line up her dolls and Beanie Babies and teach them, or direct them, saying, "Now choir, all together now." or "Now class, turn to page 3." It was so cute! She is grown and in a real choir now.
So how did the C-section go? Are you ok? (She's probably too busy with her sweet little bundle of joy to be venting at the moment!)
The regular vent is only negative political venting, and it gets tiring, so it's seeping into the "happy "vents.
Y'all be nice. After all this is the Unvent!
