Shirley and the 8 who voted the tax increase: I'm existing now on $10 per day. I didn't appreciate your glib "it's less than $1 a day" excuse for poor management.
Time to replace every council member who voted for a forty percent increase in property tax rates for the city.
The crime spree at Tech reminds me of the murders in Atlanta a few years ago. The city did nothing till a conventioneer was killed walking to his hotel. When their golden goose was in danger, they acted.
Students of the Atlanta University Center (AUC) have been getting robbed for years now, and they still can't get a spot on the THIRD page of the Metro section.
The only difference in the crime at Georgia Tech is that it's actually being reported and making the news! Can't sweep under the rug all the time!
GA Tech may be public, but it's reputation brings in millions in grant money each year. Yes, it's profitable and a crucial component to the Atlanta economy!
People like you who are "happy to pay more taxes" are the reason we're overtaxed to death and there is so much waste in government.

You do understand that even if GT is public school, there is a lot of revenue from all the spending by students and staff?
Who knew that the firemen/rescuers of the collasped parking deck had such awesome carpentry and beam support building skills?

Instead of making more and smaller counties, how about we consolidate and make fewer and larger counties? I bet that could save much more money in the long run.

Moving to Atlanta has nothing really to do with you being a crime victim. I've been here 52 years and I have NEVER been a victim of crime.

Believe me, Georgia Tech Administration is making the solution to their recent crime wave a top priority.
Atlanta is in the top 5 for most dangerous cities and you are surprised your smart little GT Geeks are being attacked at 2:AM
Wait till Tech is in decline in the same way that most other Atlanta institutions are sinking.

Paying more taxes to employ more police doesn't mean you will have more protection, only that the Waffle House will have fewer booths open to the paying public.
