I tell why the "hubbub" is. VOTING is the RIGHT of every CITIZEN. You need id to cash checks, SSI, welfare to make sure you're not STEALING. To buy alcohol you must PROVE that you are 21! I'm not sure you need one to open a bank account - I didn't but that was over 22 years ago. For the first 40 years of my voting all I needed was my SIGNATURE!
