Frommer’s Review
Although the original jamboree started at Ernest Tubb’s downtown record shop on Broadway, the Music Valley location now hosts the weekly Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree. Recent headliners have included Bill Anderson, the Osborne Brothers, and Connie Smith, but to find out who’s scheduled during your visit, log onto the Ernest Tubb Record Shop’s website at www.etrecordshop.com. If you’re looking for a down-home dose of gospel music ministry the morning after, make it to the Cowboy Church on time: The old-timey, nondenominational services kick off Sundays at 10am sharp (tel. 615/859-1001; www.nashvillecowboychurch.org). Come as you are or don your best Stetson and bolo tie. Either way, you’ll fit right in with the eclectic, all-ages congregation of locals and tourists alike that packs the pews every week for a patriotic praise-and-worship service.
