Frommer’s Review
If you’re a fan of old-fashioned diners, don’t miss Rotier’s. This little stone cottage is surrounded by newer buildings but has managed to remain a world unto itself. Sure, it looks like a dive from the outside, and the interior doesn’t seem to have been upgraded in 40 years, but the food is good and the prices great. The cheeseburger here is said to be the best in the city, and the milkshakes are pretty good, too. For bigger appetites, there is that staple of Southern cooking — the “meat-and-three.” You get a portion of meat (minute steak, pork chops, fried chicken, whatever) and three vegetables of your choice. They also do daily blue-plate specials and cheap breakfasts.
