Frommer’s Review
Dubbed “Home of 1,000 Hits,” this humble building on Music Row was a hotbed of recording activity from the time it opened in 1957, until the early 1970s (it closed in 1977). Guided tours include vintage film footage, photo displays, and a lingering look inside the legendary studio where Elvis recorded his immortal “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” Other hits cut here include The Everly Brothers’ “All I Have to Do is Dream”; Roy Orbison’s “Only the Lonely”; and Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” Tours are available only through the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, which shuttles visitors between the downtown museum and the Music Row recording studio.
