Frommer’s Review
Evoking images from Gone With the Wind, these 115 acres house the magnificent 1895 Greek Revival-style Wesley Mansion, which has been lovingly restored and richly furnished with period antiques. The second-largest collection of Louis XVI furniture in the country is here, along with a Chippendale nightstand worth about $1 million. The mansion overlooks scenic Choctawhatchee Bay and is surrounded by immense Spanish moss-draped oak trees. The house is particularly stunning during Christmastime, when it is draped in lights and decoration. The Eden Gardens are resplendent with camellias and azaleas. Your visit won’t be complete without a guided tour of the house, so avoid coming here on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Picnicking is allowed on the plantation grounds.
