Atlanta higher education
Higher education news
With a bustling student population, Atlanta is a big college town, period. There's the sprawling Georgia State University campus in downtown. Not far from GSU is a cluster of historically black colleges, including Morehouse and Spelman colleges. Georgia Tech is a growing presence in Midtown while Emory University is a powerhouse institution near Decatur. Many small liberal arts colleges such as Oglethorpe University and Agnes Scott College are here too, competing against big schools. In 2005, the Savannah College of Art and Design opened its Atlanta campus. An hour away in Athens is the University of Georgia.
