Walton DE Paulsen receives offer from Oklahoma State

8:48 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2008

Walton’s David Paulsen received an offer from Oklahoma State on Tuesday, and the Cowboys immediately moved into his top five. Paulsen, a 6-foot-3, 240 pound defensive end, indicated via text message that Oklahoma State has joined Miami (Ohio), Duke, Tulane and Georgia as his top choices. The Walton senior said he likes what Oklahoma State has to offer, especially the fire from head coach Mike Gundy, who you’ll remember from this YouTube rant. Paulsen is a member of the AJC’s The Georgia 150. He just returned from an official visit this weekend to Tulane. His next trip will be to see Miami (Ohio) on Oct. 4

How It Went: Avoiding a hurricane to visit Tulane

9:40 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2008

The threat of Hurricane Ike didn’t prevent Walton defensive lineman David Paulsen from visiting Tulane this weekend. “We flew in on Saturday morning to Mississippi and drove the rest of the way [to New Orleans],” said Paulsen, who is rated as the 46th-best defensive end in the country by Scout.com. “It really wasn’t too bad. Most of the weather passed around us. I had been [to Louisiana] one time before after Hurricane Katrina hit. It was eye opening to see the actual damage and the things that were closed down from it.” Paulsen, an AJC’s The Georgia Top 150 selection, returned home Sunday afternoon. He was impressed with Tulane. “I finally got out and met with my position coach and the head coach,” Paulsen said. “I got to walk the entire campus. You could walk from one side to the other in about 15 minutes. The whole experience was very good.” Paulsen is mulling over scholarship offers from Air Force, Army, Miami (Ohio), Navy, Tulane and Western Carolina. “I’m waiting to see what Duke, Vanderbilt, Georgia and Oklahoma State are going to do,” he said. “I probably won’t make a decision for another month or so. “But I am seriously considering Tulane.”
