Etowah safety Jordan Padgett is anticipating an offer from Indiana, Etowah coach Bill Stewart said. "We will know by the end of this weekend," Stewart said. "It's looking like it's going to happen." Padgett, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound senior, currently has offers from Air Force, Western Michigan, Navy and Miami-Ohio. Stewart said he had an in-home visit from Air Force coaches earlier this week and has an official visit scheduled for Miami-Ohio on Dec. 13. "Going to Miami-Ohio with his teammate Ishmael White is a definite possibility," Stewart said. "But I know Indiana is definitely interested." Stewart said his top choices are Air Force, Indiana and Miami-Ohio.
Perry wide receiver Trey Smith is taking an official visit to Western Michigan this weekend, teammate Johnnie Farms said Friday. Smith, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound member of the AJC's The Georgia 150, currently has offers from Western Michigan, Akron, East Carolina, Kent State and Marshall.
East Carolina has shown strong interest in Jacoby Mitchell, the Southwest DeKalb wide receiver said this week. Mitchell said he heard from an East Carolina recruiter who said the program was impressed with his highlight video. “[The recruiter] said they’re going to offer,” the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder said. “He said they’re looking for two key receivers who can make plays. … I’ll try to fit in as much as I can. I am a playmaker.” Mitchell said East Carolina wants him to visit for a game and tour the facilities. That visit hasn’t been set up yet. Mitchell also picked up recent offers from Furman and Georgia Southern, adding to his list that includes Western Carolina, which has offered three other SWD players, Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green, Alabama-Birmingham, Middle Tennessee and Akron.
