Historic Covered Bridges
Out of the estimated 250 covered bridges once standing in Georgia, only 12 remain on public land. After decades of neglect and sometimes arson, preservation efforts for the bridges stepped up in the 1960s. Today, most remaining bridges are embraced by their communities and the state with historical markers and repair efforts.
