Kirk Gibson had only one at-bat during the 1988 World Series, but it was one of the most dramatic in baseball history. Gibson, who couldn't even walk without a severe limp, came on as a pinch-hitter with the Dodgers trailing by a run in the ninth inning against the heavily favored Oakland A's. His two-run homer off Dennis Eckersley won the game and propelled L.A. to a shocking World Series title. AP
