Braves end Monday drought
Try as the Braves might they couldn't beat out a win over the Cubs at home July 2. Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija baffled Atlanta for a career-high 11 strikeouts. The Braves did keep it close, tying the game in the 6th, only to give up 3 runs the next inning that capped the 4-1 loss. Curtis Compton, ccompton@ajc.com
