Dale Murphy came up with the Braves in 1976, and over the next 14-plus seasons he became the team's star player. He won back-to-back MVPs in 1982-83, and was a seven-time All-Star. However, in 1990, as part of another rebuilding effort by the team, he was traded to the Phillies. He later briefly played with the Rockies before retiring after the 1993 season. AJC file
