Lucko' the draw: Behind one Luckovich toon
This was the final version of the cartoon, published July 18, 2008. "I wanted my cartoon to show what the New Yorker did with its cover. It took the right-wing rumors and drew them without context. I was happy with this one because it took another right-wing talking point, that Obama's elitist, and showed a future New Yorker cover depicting that distortion. The symbol of the New Yorker IS a top-hatted elitist, so making him into Obama kind of tied things together." Mike Luckovich / AJC
