THE MESSY ROOM--In Kathryn Zmistowski's small group in the "messy room" students worked in pairs to paint a flower, using their hand prints for the petals and then painting a stem. Working in pairs helps with social and emotional development. Kathryn Zmistowski and Andrea Cuartas teach a pre-k class at Scott Hudgens Jr. Early Education Center at the Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville. Zmistowski has Bachelor and Masters degrees, and Cuartas has Bachelor and post graduate degrees Bob Andres bandres@ajc.com
