SAYING GOODBYE--Police officers from throughout the area listen to tributes for Atlanta Senior Police Officer Gail Thomas during her funeral at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Atlanta. A police procession led by motorcycle patrol entered the church grounds beneath a giant American flag suspended by fire ladder trucks, and police units from throughout the area processed into the church. Thomas was killed last week by an alleged drunk driver while trying to assist on a traffic accident. Bob Andres bandres@ajc.com
