Third-Party Candidates
Teddy Roosevelt served two terms as president and is featured on the Mt. Rushmore monument. A few years after leaving the presidency, he formed the Progressive Party also known as the Bull Moose Party in 1912. Roosevelt divided Republicans. He's the most successful modern third-party candidate as he won six states and 27 percent of the vote. Library of Congress/The New York Times
