Belafonte pulls King papers from auction
Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., left, confers with singer Harry Belafonte at the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem in 1956. Belafonte had recently planned to sell important documents pertaining to King, including notes for King's last, undelivered speech, recovered from his suit pocket after his assassination. Belafonte said he'd give the money to charity. But, on the eve of a planned Sotheby's auction he withdrew the items for sale at the request of King's estate.
