Climbing Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain Park is celebrating its 50th anniversary this summer. The mountain, which is about 300 million years older, draws all sorts of people from casual climbers to people who venture to its peak every day. Here, Tom Schilling takes a momnet after reaching the top of Stone Mountain. He's a member of the 6 a.m. Mountain Climbers, who've been hitting the mountain five or six mornings a week for more than 25 years. Todd R. McQueen / AJC Special
