Judaism drawing more black Americans
The Harris' meet with Beth Jacob Rabbi Ilan Feldman as part of their conversion process. A 2000-01 survey found there were about 37,000 black Jews in the U.S. and the same amount of Jews that were multi-racial. However, Gary Tobin, president of the Institute for Jewish & Community Research believes that number is low and estimates the number of black Jews in America exceeds 150,000. Rich Addicks / AJC
