Deadly diseases have global impact
Because of the devastating impact HIV/AIDS has had on their community, many gay people found themselves becoming part of a political movement demanding more research funding and fair and equal medical treatment. The AIDS Memorial Quilt is a living tribute to those who have lost their lives to the disease. While research has led to life-prolonging medicines to treat the disease, there still is no cure.
