Summer safety tips for the family

Water parks are a great way for the family to cool off. Kids should swim with a buddy and wear a life vest if they don't know how to swim. An adult should always be supervising when children are in the water. Avoid rare outbreaks of water-borne illnesses by encouraging proper hygiene and instructing kids not to get water from rides in their mouth. Don't take sick children to a water park as germs can spread rapidly. Kids should not horse around on water slides as it can lead to injuries. AP Photo/The Courier, Eric S. Swist
