Beans are one of the most affordable nutritious foods around. Packed with fiber, beans can help with weight control, help to manage blood sugar levels in diabetics, and may help prevent colon cancer. Most Americans are woefully short of the daily recommended fiber intake. A serving of beans will get you halfway to your daily fiber goal. Use beans in soups, salads, casseroles or as side dishes.
