Master those gym moves

Smith machine squatPlace the barbell across the top of your shoulders; but do not place it on your neck. You may use a pad or rolled up towel to alleviate pressure on the shoulder. Use a firm grip to hold the barbell. Bring your feet in front of you so that when you begin to go down, your knees will not extend past your shoelaces. You should also have your feet shoulder-width apart and point toes out slightly. Push up on the bar to unlock it. Chris Hunt / Staff
