Coke, Pepsi seach for the perfect sweet
The stevia plant has been used for decades as a sweetener in parts of South America and Asia. It's sweeter than sugar but has a licorice after-taste. Coke and Pepsi both hope to use an extract of the stevia plant called rebaudioside A, which is supposed to provide a cleaner, more consistent taste. Detroit Free Press / KRT
