Notable deaths of 2008
Edie Adams was an American singer, Broadway, television and film actress and comedienne. She won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Daisy Mae in "Li'l Abner" and played the bitter secretary in the Oscar-winning "The Apartment." Adams will be remembered as the "cigar girl" from Muriel commercials, where she suggestively said, "Why don't you pick me up and smoke me sometime?" Ironically, Adams was allergic to smoke.
