Year-in-Review: May deaths

Ted Key's most famous creation was the single-panel comic strip Hazel, about a wry and bossy household maid. It ran in the Saturday Evening Post until the magazine ceased publication in 1969 and was then picked up for newspaper syndication. Key, who passed away on May 3, later adapted his comic panel into the television show Hazel, starring Shirley Booth (pictured). The endearing television show ran for 4 years. Associated Press
