Year-in-Review: March deaths
Arthur C. Clarke is synonymous with one thing: science fiction. An inventor, futurist and author, he co-wrote, with director Stanley Kubrick, the infamous 2001: A Space Odyssey -- both the book and film. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize for literature and knighted in 1998. He emigrated to Sri Lanka in 1956 to pursue his interest in scuba diving and passed away there on March 19.
