Year-in-Review: July deaths
György Kolonics, nicknamed Kolo, was a Hungarian canoeist who won two gold and two bronze medals at the Olympic Games, including the 1996 Atlanta games. He also won a record fifteen gold medals at World Championships. Kolonics passed away on July 15 in Budapest of cardiac arrest. He lost consciousness during training and the attending paramedics could not save him. Associated Press
