Year-in-Review: July deaths

Rocky Aoki founded the popular Japanese steakhouse, Benihana. He moved to New York City from Tokyo in 1962 and used the $10,000 he had saved from an ice cream business to convince his father to co-invest in the first Benihana. Later when he faced deportation for tax evasion, celebrity columnist Cindy Adams urged readers to send letters to the government. It worked as he was granted a stay. Aoki passed away on July 10.
