Year-in-Review: July deaths
After a handful of "B"movies, Evelyn Keyes (far right) landed her most notable role, playing Scarlett O'Hara's sister Suellen in "Gone with the Wind." Her 1949 role as Kathy Flannigan in "Mrs. Mike" pushed her to stardom, but she retired a few years later. In her autobiography, Keyes said Mrs. Mike was her best film. She also wrote of the personal cost she paid by having an abortion just before GWTW began filming. She was not able to have chidren. She passed away on July 4. Associated Press
